Welcome to www.contrail.ch, my web site about my passion for flying. You can find information here about my kitplane project, my flying excursions and other flying related topics. I have decided to maintain this website primarily in English to make it accessible to a wider audience. Some information is however available in both English and German, and a few items are in German only. Please understand that not all information can be provided in both languages.

The mountain that you see at the bottom of all pages is called Säntis. It is located in the northeastern corner of Switzerland (47º 15¨57´ North, 9º 20¨ 36´ East) and reaches an altitude of 8208 ft / 2501.9 m. From the top you can see six countries (Switzerland, Germany, Austria, Italy, France and Fürstentum Lichtenstein). With the right weather even the city of Stuttgart at 106 miles / 170 km or the Mont Blanc, the highest mountain of Europe at 168 miles / 270 km can be seen. As I live near the Säntis and often fly around it I thought it makes a nice background for the homepage.

The airport I am flying from is called Lommis (LSZT). It is located at 47º 31¨28´ North and 9º 00¨ 11´ East at an altitude of 1539 ft / 469 m. It is operated by the Motorfluggruppe Thurgau (www.mfgt.ch), of which I am the technical manager.
