November 2007

04.11.2007:  Finally some update again. I have been extremely busy in my job, and not much has happened regarding the SportCruiser. From what I read form the Yahoo SportCruiser Forum however, the UK PFA certification should be just around the corner. The final documents have been sent to the PFA, on the 31. October and they seem to have been promised to forward the final approval docs to the CAA within 7 working days. That would mean that the final approval should be achieved during November. For us the PFA approval is very important, as it simplifies the approval process in Switzerland.

Rolf and I are currently spending our time investigating the possibilities to design our own LED landing lights. I will post more information as soon as we have a first prototype.

Dynon published additional documents on their website, so I started designing the panel in more detail.

From the 16th November until the 20th December I will be working in Sydney, Australia again. I have only five weekends down under this time and the first one is needed to adjust to the time shift and the last one to visit a customer. For the last three I thought it's not worth going through the whole fuss again to get a temporary licence, so I won't go flying for myself. If I have time I might however go back to Camden to get a Chipmunk familiarization or I just go flying with a flight instructor.

09.11.2007:  Good News! Today I was told by CZAW that they will start manufacturing my kit in December or early January, and that they need 4 to 6 weeks until it is ready. This means that I can probably pick it up at the factory somewhere in February! They also told me that they would send me a colour sample for the upholstery next week, which means I can close the last open issue. A delivery in February will mean a delay of 5 months against the initial delivery date. After all this is not too bad, especially considering that everybody who receives his kit is more than happy with the excellent craftsmanship. In addition the US$, in which I have to pay my kit, has fallen significantly during the last months.

16.11.2007:  I'm on my way to Australia again...

18.11.2007: I had a great flight to Sydney with Singapore Airlines. No, it wasn't on an Airbus 380 (which does fly from Singapore to Sydney), but in a Boeing 777-300ER (from Zurich to Singapore) with the best business class seats I have ever seen:

From Singapore to Sydney we had a good old 747-400.

25.11.2007:  I'm in Sydney now since one week. This time I will not go flying, as I am only here for four weeks and three of the weekends are already taken for other reasons. I thought in this case it is just not worth it going through the whole fuss again with the licence. I have been quite busy the whole week, so no time to look into the project. Next week I hope however that I will have some time.
